SMOLENSK STATE AGRICULTURAL ACADEMY AND THE FEDERAL SCIENTIFIC CENTER FOR VEGETABLE GROWING: JOINING EFFORTS IN THE FIELD OF BREEDING AND TRAINING OF SCIENTIFIC PERSONNEL
A delegation from the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing, including Lyudmila Bondareva, Head of the Laboratory for Breeding and Seed Production of Brassica Crops and Ksenia Datsyuk, Research Associate of the Laboratory for Physiological Foundations of Seed Science of Vegetable Crops, paid an official visit to the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy.
During the meeting, agreements were reached on joint research activities in the fields of plant breeding and seed production, research training, including postgraduate and doctoral programs, and the formation of the Academy's dissertation council. Preparations for the scientific and practical event "Field Day of the Smolensk Region" were discussed in detail.
Representatives from the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing held an extracurricular activity with senior students at the Department of Agronomy, Horticulture, Breeding, Seed Production, and Land Management. The students learned about the history of the creation and development of the national vegetable breeding base, the specifics of working in the scientific field, and were invited to participate in an internship with the prospect of future employment.
Strengthening the partnership with the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing is an important step in the development of the scientific and educational system at the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy. This collaboration will allow the Academy to strengthen its position in agricultural science, and students will gain access to cutting-edge domestic breeding and seed production technologies today.
