INTERNATIONAL ROUND TABLE "PERENNIAL GRASSES: BREEDING, SEED PRODUCTION, AND USE IN FORAGE PRODUCTION"
As part of international cooperation, a roundtable discussion was held via teleconference, bringing together scientists from the Department of Forage Production of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and scientists from the Department of Agronomy, Horticulture, Breeding, Seed Production, and Land Management of the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy.
Participants discussed the specifics of cultivating perennial grasses, in particular issues of selection, seed production, and forage production, for the conditions of the Republic of Belarus and the Non-Black Earth Region of Russia.
Colleagues from Vitebsk presented research results on the production of high-quality preserved forage from perennial legumes, depending on the growing season and technological methods.
Representatives from the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy, in turn, focused on the role of high-quality seed material of perennial grasses in increasing the productivity of forage crops.
The roundtable confirmed a strong mutual interest in joint research and laid the foundation for further collaboration.
